Judging Others

big it consulting firms

Most of you know how big my network is. It has taken many years to cultivate and also a long time to gain their trust. When I first started building my network it was about me. What’s in it for me? What can you do for me? That led me down two paths:

  1. Judging folks; giving them labels.
  2. Being selfish.

I can tell you neither of those has served me well.

For this FFfT I wanted to share this video about judging people.

Don’t get me wrong, I still fall into both of those traps. Like everything else, it takes practice not to revert to old habits.

Who are you labeling and why? Have they done something to deserve the label or is just how you perceive them? How are you being labeled or judged?

“Everything we hear is an opinion, not a fact. Everything we see is a perspective, not the truth.” —Marcus Aurelius, Meditations

Have a great weekend.

About Friday Food for Thought (FFfT)

I frequently attend conferences and retreats on entrepreneurship and leadership and while I am away, the J2 team picks up the slack, allowing me to learn to be better at what I do. I wanted to share what I was learning with my team, so I created the weekly FFfT emails in November of 2015 and have been writing them ever since.

Before long, the J2 staff began sharing the FFfT emails with their friends and family and now other leaders have asked to be included, which led to the creation of this newsletter. I hope you enjoy!
