Seizing Opportunities

“Don’t wait for extraordinary opportunities. Seize common occasions and make them great. Weak men wait for opportunities; strong men make them.” —Orison Swett Marden

Anybody can achieve anything. I truly believe that.

This week I was presented with an opportunity. Read the message and look below to see if I took advantage of it. Some folks in my group did some did not.

Those who succeed are those who walk through the door of opportunity when it swings open. What is the secret to getting through the door of opportunity? Being outside the door when it swings open. One never knows when it will swing open, so what do you do? You get prepared. Prepare for your day, your week, your month…

Frank Sinatra got his big break while working as a waiter. One day, while waiting tables, who does he see sitting in the restaurant, but one of the biggest names in the music industry. What did he do: He cleared off a table next to the gentleman and got up on it and sang!

You never know when the door of opportunity is going to open wide. Are you taking advantage of all the opportunities that our partners (clients, consultants, vendors, coworkers, family, friends, etc.) give us on a daily basis. Are you prepared for them? Are you ready to seize the opportunities you are presented with every day?

“I feel that luck is preparation meeting opportunity.” —Oprah Winfrey

Have a great weekend. Go be lucky.

About Friday Food for Thought (FFfT)

I frequently attend conferences and retreats on entrepreneurship and leadership and while I am away, the J2 team picks up the slack, allowing me to learn to be better at what I do. I wanted to share what I was learning with my team, so I created the weekly FFfT emails in November of 2015 and have been writing them ever since.

Before long, the J2 staff began sharing the FFfT emails with their friends and family and now other leaders have asked to be included, which led to the creation of this newsletter. I hope you enjoy!
