Are you ready for 2023? We are! There’s something refreshing and empowering about looking ahead to a new year with a fresh perspective on a page yet to be turned. But as we do, we’d like to take this opportunity to reflect on the past year of progress, learning, and change.
I love this time of year, although, I would prefer warmer weather. But even with the chill in the air, most people are happy and kind towards others. It’s a time to unplug, unwind and enjoy time with family and friends. The best part is that many of us let our guards down and act like kids again around loved ones. I say many of us because I’m a kid year-round! 😊 It’s also a time when we think back to holidays past, the fun we had, the food we enjoyed, the “all out” decorations and the family we celebrated with. It seems like every year those past celebrations seem to get bigger and more lavish in our memories.
Hi everyone, I decided to take a break this week to visit with Santa and check on my status. The good news is I made it to the nice list but just barely and then I sat on his lap; now it’s a toss-up. I guess I will have to wait and see. I’m going to have to be very careful the next several days! So, I’ve given Helene the pen this week to share this message, an important reminder to us all and something I strive for.
I always thought the brain was a muscle; I was wrong, it’s an organ. I assumed it was a muscle, since our brains work all day, enabling us to function without thought or direction from us—and yet are still available to take on a multitude of other tasks that we ask of it. So no, the brain does not meet the definition of a muscle; it does meet the definition of an organ. But don’t take my word for it, look it up and flex that organ yourself!
