On July 4th, we celebrated Independence Day. The celebration of this day began in 1941, despite Independence being declared on July 2nd, 1776. Two days later, thirteen states adopted The Declaration of Independence, which states that certain rights are unalienable: Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
Part of the definition of unalienable is; non-transferable. To me, that means that I cannot transfer the pursuit of Happiness, my happiness is mine and I am responsible for it.
I have written several blogs on happiness and how it’s a mindset. The thing that brings true happiness is relationships, not superficial ones, but deep relationships.
I assume many of us will be taking a big part of this week to celebrate, relax and spend time with our friends and families. May I suggest that as you spend time with your loved ones this week you build stronger bonds and pursue happiness together.
Here is something to help you start.
“Be happy for this moment. This moment is your life” – Omar Khayyam
