Happy New Year.

As January accompanies us into a new year, with it brings a new sense of focus, new resolutions and new goals.

A couple of years back, I encouraged the J2 team to create vision boards to facilitate a more inspired goal setting exercise, which I wrote about in last January’s goal-setting FFfT. If you (re)read that post, you’ll see that I had failed to accomplish a goal I’d outlined for myself on my own vision board: to get healthy.

Here we are a year later, and the same goal continues to challenge me. Sure, I was successful in accomplishing my other goals for the year—spending more time with friends and family and growing J2 (we had a great year by the way)—but my most personal goal went ignored.

After two years of missing the same goal, something occurred to me: the one that didn’t include others was the one I was most willing to dismiss. My other two goals were driven, in large part, by accountability to others.

I spent more time with family and friends. I was accountable to them and I followed through on that commitment. And I grew the J2 team by being accountable to the existing J2 family and partners. Others were counting on me and I was relentless in following through—for them.

When it came to my own health goals, I was accountable to no one. Let’s be honest: how easy is it to NOT focus on ourselves? (Expect this to be the topic of a future FFfT.)

This is the year that changes. This year I am committed to getting to a 34-waist size—and I invite you all to be my accountability partners. Please keep me in check and hold me accountable in finally achieving this goal in 2018!

“Intention without action is an insult to those who expect the best from you.” – Andy Andrews.

I will not insult you. I will be in action with this.

What is your goal for 2018 and who is holding you accountable?

Have a great weekend.

Vijay
