Perspective

best it consulting firm in usa

Over the last few days I have been thinking about perspective a lot. I thought I would write about it to gain some.

“We can complain because rose bushes have thorns, or rejoice because thorn bushes have roses.” —Alphonse Karr, A Tour Round My Garden

As the quote above illustrates, you can choose how to see things. What is your lens?

A few weeks ago, when Dave Frees was in our office for the lunch and learn he talked about a Dr. that would wake up and say to himself “How can today be worse than yesterday.” What kind of day do you think he was going to have? In his mind the day was already lost, he got what he saw from his lens. His perspective was that everything was crappy.

But what happens when you change your lens? What if you see situations from a different angle? What if you see an opinion/point/argument from the other person’s perspective? I believe there are three sides to every story…yours, mine, and the truth. We each have our version; how we remember it, how we interpret it, what were the circumstance, etc.

If you are stuck, change how you look at things. What is your lens?

“What is true by lamplight is not always true by sunlight.” —Joseph Joubert

Have a great weekend.

About Friday Food for Thought (FFfT)

I frequently attend conferences and retreats on entrepreneurship and leadership and while I am away, the J2 team picks up the slack, allowing me to learn to be better at what I do. I wanted to share what I was learning with my team, so I created the weekly FFfT emails in November of 2015 and have been writing them ever since.

Before long, the J2 staff began sharing the FFfT emails with their friends and family and now other leaders have asked to be included, which led to the creation of this newsletter. I hope you enjoy!
