The “Dog Days” of summer is a strange term to describe July and August. The saying comes from ancient Greece and Rome and is associated to the ancient star “Sirius”, or the Dog Star. The star is at its brightest at the peak of summer, a time that is believed to drive men and dogs mad with the extreme heat (remember they did not have air conditioning then! ?).
The “Dog Days will be coming to an end soon, with Labor Day traditionally marking the unofficial end of summer. Of course, there will still be plenty of time for outdoor activities after the holiday, but somehow, they feel different once the carefree days of summer have passed. So, let’s all get in our last BBQ’s, beach, mountain trips, or whatever it is that you enjoy with friends and family.
Given that Labor Day is meant to be a celebration of the work force, Sanjay and I would like to personally thank each member of our J2 team for all the hard work they do. It does not go unnoticed, and it is very much appreciated.
“Summer’s lease hath all too short a date.”– William Shakespeare
So as summer comes to an end, relax, celebrate, and enjoy this weekend- you deserve it!
