We assign a “hero” label to the people we see deserving of one, whether they are public figures, private individuals, or simply friends and family whose courage and perseverance in the face of adversity is or was admirable. But most of us rarely cast ourselves into that role; if we do, we aren’t willing to admit it! 😊. The reality is we all are the heroes of our own story. We have to be—who else is there?
Heroes are rarely alone on their own journey; that’s the beauty of a hero’s story. Our lives intersect with other heroes on their own journeys so there are always people to help—a friend, family member, teacher, mentor or even those public figures and the examples they set for us. This guidance and support is a precious resource and makes a notable difference in our lives and ability to succeed. It also gives us a sense of validation, making it easier to handle the next obstacle. In turn, we are often asked to be this resource for others. Although we may not realize it at the time, we benefit from these interactions whether we are on the giving or receiving end.
No matter what obstacles life throws at us, we all have the capacity to become the hero of our own life story. It’s just a matter of recognizing that we have the power and strength within us to make it happen, and not being afraid to tap into our networks and resources when we can use a little help. Perhaps it’s time to take control over our own stories, tap into our inner strength and push past our fears. Self-confidence and a sense of purpose will give us the courage we need to take risks, explore new possibilities, and rise above our challenges.
Once we do that, we can start to create our own destiny. We can set goals and chase our dreams. We can choose our own paths and take back our power. We can become the heroes of our own journeys, make a positive impact in the world, and inspire others to be the heroes of their story. Taking the necessary steps towards our highest potential will lead us to the life that we desire. So, let’s make it happen!
