Happy LDW!

Hey everyone, Lauren here again!

Labor Day: the unofficial end of summer, the end of hot dog season, the third most popular day to have a cookout, and the unofficial NFL season kickoff. (Go Eagles!) The idea for Labor Day first became public back in 1882. The unions in NYC decided to have a parade to celebrate union workers and even gave up a day’s pay to be there. Other cities started having parades and, within a few years, certain states made it a holiday, later becoming a legal federal holiday. So, thank you, laborers (shout out to my new hubby 😊), for the long weekend!

I, personally, have a love/hate relationship with Labor Day. I love the summer, swimming, the beach, barbeques, and all the good stuff that comes along with summertime. Labor Day is a reminder that summer is over, school is back in session, and cold weather is coming. The bright side, for me, is that the Christmas season is coming- one of my favorite times of the year! Oh, and did I mention football season is back? 😊

I look forward to this weekend, as my family and I are going to the beach to spend some time together and soak in the last days of summer. How will you spend your Labor Day weekend? Whatever you choose to do, enjoy it!

“Our one wish is that summer never ends.” – Paul Dini

Cheers and go BIRDS!
